Those of us who have had the honor and privilege to serve as the Grand Knight of a council know just how important and demanding the position of Financial Secretary is. The Financial Secretary is the most crucial position in the council, especially when it comes to continuity, record keeping, and providing good counsel to the Grand Knight.
Fr. du Castillon Council 14755 is blessed to have an exceptionally well-qualified Financial Secretary. Brother Fred Eggers “knows the ropes” and I can say that he has made my job much easier and he has kept me on the right path. But, that is not the whole story. Brother Fred has been a driving and unifying force for all members in the Council who participate in the Catholic Charities St. Lucy Project. Even though our Council is one of the smallest in the state, the Virginia State Council knows who we are and has openly praised our council because of our work in the Project. Much of the credit for that goes to Brother Fred.
For all of these reasons and more, Worthy District Joe Tullington and I presented Brother Fred Eggers the Council’s “Knight of the Year” award at our business meeting on June 10th. – – Thank you, Brother Fred!
