The evening of July 13th, marked a high point for Knights of Columbus Fr. du Castillon Council 14755. The reasons for that are many and varied, but they all speak to the one important theme. That is the Knights of Columbus commitment to charity. That is a commitment to the kind of charity that extends beyond the brotherhood to the parish and the community, providing fraternal service, with a focus on helping those in need regardless of their faith. That is why the installation of new officers, and the renewing of that commitment to charity is such a meaningful and solemn event for every Knight in the council.
A highlight of the evening was the installation of a new Chaplain, Father Richard Carr. Assigned to St. Peter Catholic Church in June, this was the first time since his arrival that Fr. Carr got to meet the council formally. Nevertheless, he stepped right in and performed those duties that only a Chaplain can do. He invoked the opening prayer, blessed the Council Jewels, and of course he blessed the food at the reception. – Thank you, Father.
Our Worthy District Deputy, Joe Tullington, was there to perform the important official duties of the Installation of Officers. He reminded the new officers of their respective duties and responsibilities and challenged them to put forth their best efforts. – Thank you, Worthy District Deputy.

Newly installed Grand Knight, Richard Ostrander, saw to it that the installation and the following celebration ran smoothly. He looks forward to this Fraternal Year as a year of service and fraternity. He will be ably assisted by Deputy Grand Knight, Leo Filipowicz.

This year, our Knights of Columbus council was greatly honored by the presence of a distinguished guest, State Treasurer Anthony Hall. (See bio here) At the close of his remarks to all in attendance, he took the opportunity to recognize the many behind the scenes achievements of Brother Tom Junk. For as long as anyone can remember, Tom has been the one to organize events, procure and prepare the food, for the parish picnics and for council parties. More importantly, Tom has been the one to ensure a true spirit of Fraternity within our council. From the applause of all present, it was obvious that this recognition from the Virginia State Council was well-deserved.
